Throughout this year, our Thursday night swimmers aged 12+ have been given the opportunity to train for triathlon. The swimmers either run or cycle before the swimming session on a Thursday evening and in addition are taught all the transition skills required to compete in a triathlon, aquathon or biathlon event. The club, hosted by triathlon coach Jackie with the help of myself and teacher Tom has been very successful with all competing in several ‘in house’ events and some even competing in the junior events around the South West.
We would now like to widen this opportunity to younger members in the Swim School. The initial places have been offered to those that already swim at Churchill on a Thursday evening, with a few remaining. If your swimmer would like to spend a little more time outdoors learning the skills of running and cycling before their swimming session and ultimately participating in a triathlon, PLEASE get in touch.
Our junior section will commence this coming Thursday at 4.45 for 5 p.m. at Churchill School with running skills before the swim at 5.30 p.m. We have a new group starting and if your swimmer is available at this time and keen to try, give me a quick call or email and I will do my best to include them in the group.
There is a very small additional charge and the swimmer preferably needs the use of a bike (any type) and a cycle helmet. All cycling is within the bounds of the school and NOT on the road.
