About Us - Pre-School Classes

My favourite! The children enjoy a different themed lesson each week structured in a way that they learn to swim without even realising because they are engaged in the themed activity. Some seasonal examples are:
  • Toboganning in January
  • Spring cleaning in March
  • Spring time animals in April
  • A visit to the farm in May
  • Bonfire night in November
  • Decorating the tree in December
Pre-school lessons are currently on Monday afternoons.   However, additional classes are introduced throughout the year so please give me a ring. I recommend that the children are put on the waiting list before their pre-school year as the programme usually starts full in September.

Mum, dad, grandma, grandpa or even the child minder usually choose to come in the water giving a small child the comfort and security that they need at this age.  Extra hands also mean that there is no waiting or shivering as the group enjoys the teacher-led activity together. A teacher will happily care for a child when the parent/carer is unable or does not wish to go in. Twins are welcome!  The pool environment at Redhill House is particularly warm which makes learning to swim even more fun!

This is a special time to enjoy the water, gain confidence and learn to swim in daytime hours before going to school.
Many parents connect starting school with learning to swim but children attending the pre-school programme are offered the priority places for after school lessons.   Siblings usually sit quite happily in buggies on the side chatting together, or when old enough play with our equipment on the side!
